Triple-OT classic costs Joel Embiid

The triple-overtime slugfest took some toll on the Sixers' biggest star.

After playing a career-high 48 minutes in the 119-117 loss to the Thunder last Friday, Joel Embiid will sit out his second straight game when the Sixers host the Kings on Tuesday night.

Head coach Brett Brown said pregame that the team is being cautious with Embiid's back. The 7-foot-2, 250-pounder missed the Sixers' previous back-to-back set (Dec. 9-10) because of back tightness. Embiid returned for the next two games, including the 3OT classic against the Thunder, but missed Monday's game in Chicago as he has not been cleared to play both games of back-to-back situations.

Turns out, he won't play in either of the contests for this one.

The Sixers next play Thursday at home against the Raptors. Embiid's status is to be determined.
