Delaware can't stop the rain from deep

NEWARK, Del. -- Vasa Pusica had 27 points and Donnell Gresham Jr. added 17 as Northeastern held off Delaware 70-67 on Thursday night.

The teams were tied at 37 at the break and swapped the lead throughout until Gresham and Pusica drained back-to-back treys to go ahead 61-51 with 7:42 remaining.

Eric Carter scored four straight as the Blue Hens rallied to close to 64-63 with 3:31 left. Bolden Brace nailed a 3-pointer for the Huskies.

Ryan Allen, who finished with 19 points, hit a jumper to get Delaware within one again, 68-67 with 1:13 left.

Pusica grabbed the rebound after Allen missed a jumper with :03 left. He was fouled and made two free throws to seal the win.

Pusica made 5 of 10 from distance and Gresham drilled 3 of 4 from deep as the Huskies (16-9, 9-4 Colonial Athletic Association) were 11 of 26 from long range while the Blue Hens made just 2 of 11.

Carter added 14 points with 10 rebounds for Delaware (11-15, 4-9).
