Tramaine Isabell scored 22 points to lead five Dragons in double figures, made 11 of 14 free throws and handed out five assists as Drexel pulled away early from Division III member Arcadia University to win 95-81 on Monday night.
Troy Harper added 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Sammy Mojica added 13 points with five assists, Kurk Lee had 11 points, and Austin Williams, 10 for Drexel (2-0).
Arcadia's Josh Scott tied it at 2 with a layup, but Drexel quickly pulled ahead on a 10-3 run in which Jarvis Doles made a 3 and led 51-42 at halftime behind Harper's 15 points and on 55.2 percent shooting from the floor.
The Dragons shot 58.8 percent early in the second half and led 81-60 after Isabell hit a pair of free throws, and cruised.
Da'Kquan Davis scored 18 points for the Knights, who play in the Mid Atlantic Conference. Josh Scott and Brandon Thompson scored 14 apiece, with Thompson shooting 4 of 8 from 3-point range, and Phil Pierfy added 13 points.
It was the first meeting of the teams.
TOWSON, Md. — Tobias Howard scored a career-high 26 points as Towson beat Drexel 92-77 on Saturday. Brian Fobbs added 25 points for the Tigers.
Howard hit 8 of 10 free throws.
Nakye Sanders had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Towson (10-17, 6-8 Colonial Athletic Association).
Towson dominated the first half and led 46-19 at the break. The Dragons' 19 first-half points marked a season low for the team.
Alihan Demir had 17 points for the Dragons (12-16, 6-9). Camren Wynter added 13 points and eight assists. Trevor John and Troy Harper had 12 points apiece.
The Tigers leveled the season series against the Dragons with the win. Drexel defeated Towson 72-66 on Jan. 17. Towson plays Hofstra on the road on Thursday. Drexel matches up against Delaware at home next Saturday.
HARRISONBURG, Va. — Dwight Wilson scored 20 points and pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds and James Madison defeated Drexel 71-69 on Thursday night.
Wilson was 9-of-11 shooting with the Dukes (11-15, 4-9 Colonial Athletic Association) shooting 57 percent. Stuckey Mosley added 15 points.
Trailing by eight with under a minute to go, Drexel scored seven straight points, capped by Camren Wynter's 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining. Darius Banks made two free throws with three seconds left for a three-point lead. Drexel's Troy Harper went to the line with 1.9 left, made the first free throw and missed the second with the ball going out of bounds to Drexel with 0.8 remaining. However, the inbounds pass was knocked away as time ran out.
JMU used a 23-7 run in building a 15-point in the first half before Drexel (12-15, 6-8) cut it to nine at the break. JMU was ahead by 12 with 5:14 left in the game before the Dragons rallied.
Alihan Demir scored 23 points, 15 in the second half, and James Butler had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Drexel.
