Eagles 27, Redskins 24
Oct. 29, 1961, District of Columbia Stadium

The Eagles were 5-1 and defending NFL champions, and the Redskins were winless, but in the final seconds, the Redskins led 24-20. The Eagles had time for one more play, and Sonny Jurgensen’s 41-yard TD pass capped a rally from 10 points down, giving the Eagles a 27-24 win. McDonald had a huge game, with 7-for-141, but Jurgensen was incredible, throwing for 436 yards, at the time the fifth-most in NFL history. (AP Images)

Tommy McDonald: “We had time for one more play, and that was it. I ran a deep slant pattern, got by the defensive back, and Sonny put it right there for me. All I had to do was catch it.”

Eagles 30, Redskins 17
Sept. 10, 2017, FedEx Field

On the second play of last season, Carson Wentz scrambled out of trouble, threw off his back foot and connected with Nelson Agholor for 58 yards and a touchdown. Agholor caught the ball at the 20 and shrugged off Redskins safety D.J. Swearinger. The Eagles coasted to the opening-day win and only lost two of their next 18 meaningful games on their way to their first Super Bowl championship. (AP Images)

Nelson Agholor: “He’s a magician, man. He does what he does and it’s my job to give him a target, because he’s going to juke as many people as he needs to and then find his receivers. I’m just happy it happened today and we got a touchdown out of it."

Eagles 37, Redskins 14
Dec. 2, 1962, District of Columbia Stadium 

The Redskins had jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the Eagles when Timmy Brown fielded a Bob Khayat kickoff at the 1-yard-line and ran 99 yards for a touchdown that got the Eagles started on a comeback that saw them score the game’s final 37 points. Brown finished his brilliant career with three kick returns of at least 99 yards, and today – 50 years after he played his last game – he remains one of only 11 players in NFL history with three career KO returns of at least 99 yards. (AP Images)

Eagles 21, Redskins 14
Dec. 10, 2006, FedEx Field

The Eagles had lost quarterback Donovan McNabb for the season and were trying to make the playoffs behind backup Jeff Garcia. After a loss to the Colts in Garcia’s first start as an Eagle, they reeled off five straight wins to earn a wild-card berth. The second of those wins came in Washington, and the biggest play of the day came in the second quarter, when safety Michael Lewis picked off a Jason Campbell pass intended for Chris Cooley and deflected by Will James at the Eagles’ 16-yard-line and returned it 84 yards for a touchdown. That’s still the 10^th-longest INT return for a TD in franchise history and sixth-longest ever against the Skins. The Eagles have only had one longer INT return since. (AP Images)

Eagles 28, Redskins 24
Oct. 27, 1946, Griffith Stadium 

The Eagles trailed the Skins 24-0 at halftime but rallied back within three points at 24-21 late in the fourth quarter. That’s when Tommy Thompson threw a 30-yard TD pass to Jack Ferrante to give the Eagles a 28-24 win. That was the only comeback from a 24-point deficit in the NFL’s first 60 years and remains one of only six in NFL history – one of only three in regulation. It remains the greatest comeback in Eagles history and the greatest collapse in Redskins history. (AP Images)

Sept. 13, 1987, RFK Stadium

Reggie White is considered the greatest defensive end in history and one of the greatest Eagles in history. He was a first-ballot Hall of Famer and had his legendary No. 92 retired. White was known for his big hits and sacks, but in the 1987 opener against the Redskins he made one of the most remarkable plays of his career. In the third quarter, with the Redskins facing a 1^st-and-10 on the Eagles’ 22-yard-line, White sacked Doug Williams and simply took the ball from Williams as he was going down. He then ran 70 yards for the first – and longest – touchdown of his career. It remains to this day the fourth-longest fumble return TD ever by an Eagles defensive lineman. (AP Images)

Eagles 17, Redskins 13
Dec. 20, 1992, Veterans Stadium

The Eagles, needing a win to clinch a playoff berth, led the defending Super Bowl champion Redskins in the final seconds of their late-season showdown, but Mark Rypien had driven the Skins deep into Eagles territory, and with two seconds left – enough time for one play – the Skins had a 2^nd-and-5 on the Eagles’ 5-yard-line. As soon as the ball was snapped, all-pro corner Eric Allen realized Rypien was going to throw to Gary Clark, covered by a young Otis Smith. So he left his man – Ricky Sanders – and raced over, dove and got his fingertips on the ball, deflecting it just out of Clark’s reach. Eric Allen: “Three inches more and he catches that ball. If I had waited one split-second longer, he catches that ball. Everything worked perfectly for them on that play except I didn’t go for the bait.”

Eagles 28, Redskins 14
Nov. 12, 1990, Veterans Stadium

The Eagles knocked so many Redskins out of the game – including all their quarterbacks – that at one point Jerome Brown yelled to the Redskins’ sideline, “You’re going to need body bags to carry everybody out of here.” With the Eagles leading 14-7, a blitzing Wes Hopkins sacked Jeff Rutledge, who fumbled, got hurt and never returned to the game. Clyde Simmons recovered and returned the ball 18 yards for a touchdown. The Redskins, after losing Rutledge and Stan Humphries and with Mark Rypien inactive, were forced to finish the game with former Louisiana option quarterback Brian Mitchell at QB. (AP Images)

Eagles 59, Redskins 28
Nov. 15, 2010, FedEx Field

It only took Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson 18 seconds to make history. Vick’s 88-yard touchdown pass to Jackson on the first play of the game got the Eagles started on their historic 59-28 win over Donovan McNabb and the Redskins. Vick play-faked to LeSean McCoy, rolled to his left, set and unloaded down the middle of the field to a streaking Jackson, who had a step on LaRon Landry. Jackson caught the ball at the 32 – it traveled 64 yards in the air – and waltzed into the end zone, running the final 15 yards backwards. It was the first of six Vick TDs – four passing, two rushing. (AP Images)

Eagles 42, Redskins 37
Sept. 17, 1989, RFK Stadium

The Eagles had battled within two points in the fourth quarter after trailing earlier by 20 points, but the Redskins were running out the clock with Gerald Riggs, who was well over 200 rushing yards. But with 76 seconds left in the game, Seth Joyner forced a Riggs fumble, Al Harris picked it up and handed the ball to Wes Hopkins, who ran 77 yards down to the 3-yard-line. On the next play, Randall Cunningham’s TD pass to Keith Jackson gave the Eagles a miracle 42-37 win and gave Cunningham five TDs and 447 yards in one of the greatest performances in Eagles history. (AP Images)
