7 College Football Playoff National Championship game players Eagles fans should know

Monday night's College Football Playoff title game will showcase the two best quarterbacks in college football, but for Eagles fans peeking towards April's NFL Draft, the supporting casts surrounding Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow should be far more intriguing.

Here's a look at seven names you should pay attention to during Monday night's showdown:

Wide Receivers

Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
6-4, 215 lbs

Higgins, currently finishing his third season with the Tigers, has demonstrated clear first round pick ability all year long, catching 13 touchdowns and averaging nearly 20 yards per reception. He has the size and the speed to immediately be a difference-maker.

Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
6-3, 192 lbs

Jefferson is putting the finishing touches on a breakout season that could catapult him into the Top 20 on draft night. He's benefitted from a pass-happy offense, catching 102 passes for 1,434 yards and 19 touchdowns, and good chemistry with Burrow. He's known for his route-running acumen.

Secondary

Grant Delpit, S, LSU
6-3, 203 lbs

Delpit is probably out of the Eagles' range at No. 21, but if Howie Roseman is ready to let Rodney McLeod test the market and wants a safety of the future, the physical, playmaking junior seems legit. He has eight interceptions, six sacks, and dozens of passes defended over his three years with LSU.

Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
6-0, 200 lbs

The Eagles' cornerbacks corps needs help after another disappointing season, and it seems Fulton should be available around the time the Birds make their first-round selection. He doesn't have the gaudy interception numbers, but Fulton is known as a man-coverage stud.

A.J. Terrell, CB, Clemson
6-1, 190 lbs

LSU is officially Defensive Back University, but Clemson's Terrell is a borderline first round cornerback who the Eagles might be justified in taking early. He fits a need, he's athletic, and he notched five interceptions over his last 27 games in orange-and-white.

Linebackers

Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, LSU
6-4, 230 lbs

Simmons is the latest combo defender to turn heads at multiple positions in college, following the Jabrill Peppers model. Simmons, like Delpit, is likely unreachable for the Eagles barring a trade or a draft-day drop, but his combination of size and speed, and his instincts when covering tight ends and receivers at linebacker, makes him a tantalizing player.

K'Lavon Chaisson, LB, LSU
6-4, 250 lbs

Chaisson got after opposing quarterbacks in a big way in 2019, racking up 6.5 sacks in 12 games, sixth-best in the SEC. He tore his ACL in 2018, which dings his draft stock a bit, but he's shown smooth movement in open spaces and a knack for finding opponents.
