Despite breaking the ring finger on his left hand this week at practice, DeSean Jackson will play in the Eagles' season opener against Washington in a little over a week.
Eagles employee Dave Spadaro, acting as the sideline reporter for the fourth preseason game on NBC10, announced the news at the start of the broadcast on Thursday night.
Before the game, Jackson was on the field with a splint on his broken finger and did not catch passes with the other receivers.
There was an ESPN report from Tuesday that indicated Jackson might not play in Week 1 because the injury would take 3-4 weeks to heal. According to the Eagles, Jackson will be able to play against his former team in the opener.
Jackson, 32, is back with the Eagles for the first time since 2013 and you had to figure it would take a lot more than a broken finger on his non-dominant hand to keep him out. Even at his age, Jackson led the league in yards per reception in his second and final season in Tampa Bay last year.
The Eagles pulled off a trade to get Jackson back this offseason and then signed him to a three-year deal.
