Dallas Goedert will spend most of his summer in the Philadelphia area and plans on working out with Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson at Johnson’s Bro Barn.
But Goedert is taking at least one trip.
Goedert, 27, is heading back to Tight End University, a three day summit hosted by George Kittle, Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

“Yup, I’ll be there again. That’s coming up,” Goedert said last week. The event this year will be held on June 22-24.
“Really excited for that. It was a great turnout last year. I was able to learn a lot. Excited to go back and hear from some of the best at the position and take away what I can get from them.”
Tight End University began last year as a way for some of the best tight ends in football to get together and exchange some tips. It’s a similar idea to Johnson’s brain child: OL Masterminds.
Last year, Kittle, Kelce and Olsen were the ones who gave presentations to the group in the inaugural event. But every tight end who attends is part teacher and part student.

“When we get out on the field, everybody is giving their two cents, everybody is telling their coaching points, what they’re thinking on different things,” Goedert said. “It’s just a great place to go. There’s a lot of knowledgeable people there. Everybody can view the game very differently and be very good in their own way. It’s just cool to hear how other people look at stuff, how other people game plan, how other people do different things.”
Kittle and Kelce are widely considered to be the top two tight ends in the NFL and Olsen had a 14-year career that ended after the 2020 season. Those three have combined for 13 Pro Bowls and 4 All-Pro appearances. So there’s a lot of knowledge to go around.
More than 50 tight ends showed up at the event last year and it was a hit. Among the players scheduled to attend this year: Kyle Pitts, Cole Kmet, Darren Waller, Hayden Hurst, Dawson Knox, Codey McElroy, Noah Gray, T.J. Hockenson, Tyler Conklin, Albert Okwuegbunam, Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, Logan Thomas, Robert Tonyan, Dalton Schultz.
But Goedert is right there among the elite tight ends in the NFL. Despite beginning last season splitting reps with Zach Ertz (before Ertz was traded in October) Goedert still had a career year with 56 caches, 830 yards and 4 touchdowns. After the trade, his production was a 1,000+ yard pace. And he’s also an exceptional blocker.
ProFootballFocus ranked Goedert as the second-best tight end in football last season behind just Baltimore’s Mark Andrews.
This offseason, Goedert is also moving out of the house he has shared with teammate Avonte Maddox for several years. The two members of the 2018 draft class became very close and had a good thing going there for a while. But they both cashed in with big contract extensions during last season and are going their separate ways, although their new places are close together.
And they’ll have plenty of time to hang out this summer aside from a few days when Goedert will be in Nashville honing his craft.
“There’s just so much to learn,” Goedert said. “I learned a lot, took a lot away from it (last year) and am really excited to go back this year, for sure.”
