Eagles fans donate over $5K to Carson Wentz's foundation in 10 hours

As trade rumors and reports continue to circle around Carson Wentz’s future with the Eagles, the John Kincade Show on 97.5 The Fanatic had a pretty cool idea.

Just after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, the show’s Twitter account sent out a call to action for Eagles fans to donate to Wentz’s AO1 Foundation to let him know he was appreciated during his five years in Philly.

It worked.

Because as of 10 hours later, the foundation had received over $5,000 in donations and the final number will be higher than that.

That’s pretty cool. Regardless of how anyone feels about Wentz, his foundation does good work in this community and others. So it’s nice to see the city rally around a good cause. The ask from 97.5 was for everyone to donate $11 (Wentz’s jersey number) so if everyone did that, there were roughly 450 donations to come through. But some people probably gave more.

The John Kincade Show said this was inspired by Bills fans, who pulled off something extraordinary for an opposing quarterback last month. After the Bills beat the Ravens in a game where Lamar Jackson was forced to leave early with an injury, Bills fans began to donate to Blessings in a Backpack, Jackson’s favorite charity.

In a little over a week, the non-profit had received over $435,000 in donations, according to CBS News.
