Eagles get several defenders back at practice on Wednesday

While the Eagles are dealing with plenty of injuries in their secondary, there was some good news on Wednesday.

Several defensive players returned to practice to start the week.

T.J. Edwards (hamstring), Michael Jacquet (hamstring) and Rudy Ford (hamstring) all returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the Saints game. The Eagles held a light practice indoors on Wednesday as snow fell in South Philadelphia.

Here is today's full report:

Did not participate: DT Fletcher Cox (rest), CB Darius Slay (concussion), CB Avonte Maddox (knee), OT Jack Driscoll (knee), DB Grayland Arnold (hamstring)

Limited: LB T.J. Edwards (hamstring), S Rudy Ford (hamstring), CB Michael Jacquet (hamstring), DE Josh Sweat (shoulder), DT Malik Jackson (concussion)

Of the players that didn't practice, there are no surprises. Maddox and Driscoll have already been ruled out for this upcoming game and we knew Slay was in concussion protocol. Even though Slay didn't practice, he was on the field today, which is a positive sign.

Jackson apparently also has a concussion but the fact that he was limited on Wednesday shows he's moving through the protocol quickly. Players need to completely clear the NFL's concussion protocol, which includes getting cleared by an independent neurologist before they're allowed to play.

Getting Jacquet back this week could be a big help because the Eagles will be without Rodney McLeod, Maddox and possibly Slay. And Cre'Von LeBlanc and Craig James are still on IR.

Sweat is limited to start the week but is fully expected to play on Sunday barring a setback.
