It sounds like Eagles want to bring Ertz back slowly

For the first time in over a month, Eagles tight end Zach Ertz practiced on Wednesday.

But it sounds like the Eagles are going to bring him along slowly.

The Eagles just activated Ertz’s 21-day practice window earlier this week and he’ll remain on Injured Reserve with that ankle injury until the Eagles activate him to their active roster. On Wednesday, according to reporters in attendance, Ertz was working on a side field during the open portion of practice.

“I expect Zach just to kind of get back within the offense, get comfortable again,” head coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday morning. “We're going to ramp him in there and see where he's at today.”

Just because Ertz has begun practicing this week, it doesn’t mean he’ll be making his return on Sunday. The Eagles have until 4 p.m. on Saturday to activate him.

Last week, that 4 p.m. deadline came and went without the Eagles’ activating left guard Isaac Seumlao, who hasn’t played since Week 2 with a knee injury.

It looks like, barring a setback, Seumalo will be ready to go against the Browns.

“We will see where Isaac's at today,” Pederson said, “and then hopefully there are no setbacks, as you mentioned, and he can have a great week of practice.”

Because Ertz and Seumalo are technically still on IR, they don’t appear on the Eagles’ daily injury reports. So we don’t know if they were full or limited participants on Wednesday.

But here is that Eagles’ injury report from today:

Did not participate: Shaun Bradley (illness), Rudy Ford (hamstring)

Limited: Fletcher Cox (rest), Jason Peters (rest)

Ford was injured during the Giants game.
