The Eagles have ruled out DeSean Jackson (abdomen) for Sunday’s game against the Lions, but Doug Pederson is holding out hope for his two other key injured skill players.

Alshon Jeffery (calf) and Dallas Goedert (calf) are listed as questionable for Sunday.

“The other two, I’m optimistic,” Pederson said on Friday morning. “We’ll see today. And then wait until game day.”

Jeffery did not practice on Friday, but Goedert was limited.

Based on sheer numbers, it seems like it might be difficult for the Eagles to field their 46-man game-day roster. But Pederson was unworried.

“We have seven days before we play games, so we have all this time in between to get healthy,” he said. “We have plenty of guys.”

If Jeffery and Goedert can’t play — and the Thursday game in Green Bay five days after Sunday will play a role in decision-making — the Eagles will be light at their skill positions:

Receivers: Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, JJ Arcega-Whiteside

Tight ends: Zach Ertz, Alex Ellis

Running backs: Miles Sanders, Jordan Howard, Darren Sproles

Pederson on Friday touted the versatility of some of his skill players as a way to overcome these injuries. A guy like Agholor can play inside and outside. Sproles can play in the slot and was ready to do so as injuries piled up last week.

The Eagles also have Greg Ward and Josh Perkins on their practice squad. So if they think they need another healthy body, they could call them up. But then they’d have to find a corresponding roster move.
