Eagles Injury Update: DeSean Jackson still not ready to practice

Share

DeSean Jackson was rehabbing on Wednesday, but was still not practicing.

It appears Jackson is now in serious danger of missing his sixth straight game after getting hurt early in Week 2 against Atlanta.

Jackson, 32, was working on a side field Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, Doug Pederson was asked if Jackson’s recovery is taking longer than expected and if, in hindsight, the Eagles should have just put him on Injured Reserve. That would have kept him out a minimum of eight weeks, meaning his earliest return wouldn’t have been until Nov. 17. Pederson said no.

“He’s right where we expected him to be at this time,” Pederson said. “IR would have put him eight weeks or so out. He’s right where he needs to be. He’s close.”

The following players weren’t practicing on Wednesday: Jackson, Avonte Maddox, Darren Sproles, Nigel Bradham, Jason Peters, Tim Jernigan, Hassan Ridgeway and Lane Johnson.

Johnson (illness) was the only player not previously listed on an injury report. Halapoulivaati Vaitai was working at right tackle in his place.

Here’s a complete update on every injured Eagle:

Avonte Maddox: The Eagles’ cornerback is still getting over his concussion/neck injury and isn’t expected to play this weekend. Maddox doesn’t have concussion symptoms anymore but is still “dealing with some soreness” in his neck.

Nigel Bradham: Bradham’s rehab will ramp up this week, but his ankle injury will keep him out of practice. Without Bradham, the Eagles’ top linebackers last week were Nate Gerry, Kamu Grugier-Hill and T.J. Edwards.

Tim Jernigan: Jernigan will likely miss his sixth straight game this weekend thanks to a foot injury suffered in Week 2. He’ll be working on a side field this week.

Jason Peters: Peters (knee) isn’t practicing and is working on rehab. That could mean a second straight start for rookie Andre Dillard.

Darren Sproles: It seems like Sproles (quad) will likely miss his third straight game Sunday. He won’t practice this week, but will do work on the side.

Hassan Ridgeway: Ridgeway suffered a significant ankle injury against the Cowboys and is “week to week,” according to the head coach. The Eagles signed two rookie DTs on Monday.

Jalen Mills: Pederson said Mills (foot) came out of his first game healthy and should be good going forward. He practiced Wednesday.

Ronald Darby: Darby (hamstring) was limited last week, but Pederson said he expects Darby to be a full participant this week. He might be able to make his return to game action Sunday. He practiced Wednesday.
