The biggest Eagles injury news of the week came out on Wednesday, when we found out that rookie Jalen Reagor needed surgery to repair a torn UCL.
And then on Thursday, another big storyline came about when we learned that Alshon Jeffery was practicing for the first time this season.
But that meant another significant injury hasn’t gotten enough attention. Fletcher Cox is hurt.
And the Eagles’ highest-paid defensive player was not on the field again Thursday, meaning he has now missed the two biggest practice days of the week heading into Sunday’s game against the Bengals.
Cox, 29, suffered an oblique injury during the Rams game and was in some real pain. He was able to tough it out but the Eagles have him day to day in an attempt to avoid it becoming a long-term issue.
In the short-term, that might mean that Cox either misses Sunday’s game or isn’t 100 percent for it.
If Cox can’t play on Sunday, the Eagles will need to rely on Malik Jackson and Javon Hargrave.
Here are some other injury notes from Thursday:
- Jeffery practiced and even went through individual drills. Not sure if he’ll play this week but this is certainly an encouraging sign. He was a limited participant.
- Malik Jackson and DeSean Jackson were back on the field after getting rest days to start the week.
- Corey Clement (illness) returned after missing Wednesday’s session.
- Still missing: Reagor (UCL tear) and Rudy Ford (groin). Both of those are longer-term injuries.
- All three players who were limited on Wednesday returned on Thursday: Lane Johnson (ankle), Jason Kelce (rest) and Jason Peters (rest). They were all full participants.

My theory here is that the Eagles moved Herbig because Pryor is more comfortable at right guard and also because that’s where veteran Jamon Brown is more comfortable. I think they’re getting Brown ready to play.
