Despite missing the two most important days of practice this week, the Eagles still expect to have Michael Bennett for Monday night’s game against Washington.
Bennett hurt his foot on Sunday but was able to return and finish the game. He finally practiced on Saturday. He's officially listed as questionable.
“[Bennett is] doing well,” head coach Doug Pederson said on Saturday morning. “He’s done all our walkthroughs this week. Just hasn’t performed in practice. Just giving him some rest on that toe. He’ll be fine. He’ll be good.”
The Eagles would have really missed Bennett this week if he were unable to play. The veteran defensive end has been very good recently.
After he failed to recored a sack in the first three weeks of the season, Bennett has 6 1/2 in the last eight games to lead the team. He’s been the Eagles’ best defensive end this season and has been a starter since Derek Barnett went down for the season.
“I think what you’re seeing now, as he’s getting more reps, obviously he’s getting more snaps in the game, he’s really become a dominant force,” Pederson said. “He’s played extremely well. He’s been disruptive, has been around the quarterback in recent weeks.”
Here are official injury statuses:
Out: Jalen Mills (foot), Avonte Maddox (knee, ankle), Jordan Hicks (calf)
Questionable: Bennett (foot), Darren Sproles (hamstring), Josh Adams (hip)
Adams was added to the injury report on Saturday after he was a limited participant.
• Sproles is expected to play on Monday night for the first time since the season opener. He has been dealing with a nasty hamstring injury and has suffered two setbacks during recovery. Pederson wouldn’t disclose everything about Sproles’ role this week, but it seems like Sproles will return some punts and at least get involved on third downs offensively.
“For him, it’s now about getting back to game speed and getting caught up with that, the physical nature of the game, getting tackled again,” Pederson said.

• Pederson said Sidney Jones (hamstring) and Rasul Douglas (knee, ankle) should play on Monday, but wouldn’t say whether or not they will start. Although, it seems likely they will. I’d guess they start outside and Cre’Von LeBlanc starts in the slot. De’Vante Bausby and Chandon Sullivan could be in the mix too.
Don’t expect to see Avonte Maddox (knee, ankle) or Jalen Mills (foot) this week. Both of them aren’t yet ready to return.
• Left tackle Jason Peters has missed practice this week for a personal reason, but Pederson said he’s “very optimistic and hopeful” Peters will play on Monday.
• Meanwhile, Lane Johnson has been very good recently as he gets further removed from his MCL sprain. Pederson has noticed it too.
“I’m excited with where he’s at and looking forward to these next few weeks with him at that level,” he said.
