CeeDee Lamb is neither the biggest nor fastest wide receiver in this draft -- but he is, without a doubt, one of the most productive.
In three seasons at Oklahoma, Lamb racked up 173 catches, 3,292 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns while averaging 19.0 yards per reception. His lines the last two years are especially eye-popping: 65/1,158/11 in 2018 and 62/1,327/14 in 2019.
Lamb did clock a disappointing 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the combine, while at 6-foot-2, 198 pounds, he can afford to bulk up a bit. None of that seemed to slow him down in college though.
He's a natural route runner, has great hands and knows how to make tacklers miss after the catch.
Current roster at WR: The Eagles aren't in terrible shape at wide receiver if they get something, anything out of Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson in 2020. It's unclear Jeffery will still be here come September though, and he won't be healthy until later in the year, while Jackson is 33 and coming off a lost season. It's probable neither player is back in 2021, and the best targets behind them are J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who diappointed as a rookie, and Greg Ward, who averaged 9.1 yards per catch.
How he would fit: Lamb would crack the rotation immediately, probably starting. Again, who knows if and when Jeffery is back, how many games the oft-injured Jackson will be available, or if Arcega-Whiteside and Ward are any good. The Eagles need bodies here, and Lamb is versatile enough to line up in all three receiver positions.
Eagles' history at WR in draft: The Eagles have taken receivers around 21 before, to varying degrees of sucess -- Nelson Agholor at 20 in 2015, Jeremy Maclin at 19 in 2009, Freddie Mitchel at 25 in 2001 and Mike Quick at 20 in 1982. Also, a pair of recent second-rounders are currently on the roster in Arcega-Whiteside and Jackson, while another, Jordan Matthews, had his third stint with the club last season.
