Your guide to parking, tailgating at dueling Eagles, Flyers games tonight

Update 12:28 p.m. - the Flyers game against the Capitals has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues among Washington's roster. The Eagles game is still on, beginning at 7 p.m.

Due to this, the Wells Fargo Center will now allow Eagles fans to park in lots A through G just like a typical home game. All lots are open.

Original story, 11:01 a.m. - The South Philadelphia Sports Complex is no stranger to heavy traffic and multiple events in a single day, but Tuesday night will present a rare challenge as both the Flyers game vs. the Washington Capitals and the rescheduled Eagles game against the Washington Football Team have the exact same start time.

If you’ve ever been to an Eagles game day in South Philly, you know that Eagles fans typically park in basically every lot surrounding the stadiums … including those at the Wells Fargo Center, home of the Flyers. It goes without saying that Flyers fans also use those lots for home games.

So it’s a unique logistical problem given that Flyers fans and Eagles fans essentially have the exact same parking spaces reserved at the exact same time on Tuesday. As a result, there will be some big changes to the gameday parking experience.

What is different about Eagles parking for Tuesday?

Eagles fans, even those with pre-paid passes in Wells Fargo Center lots, will not be allowed entry to those lots on Tuesday. Those lots are lettered A through G. Eagles fans will be directed to park in lots M, N, P, or Q through X, all of which open at 12 p.m. at the typical Eagles gameday rate.

What if I have a pre-paid Eagles parking pass at Wells Fargo Center?

Those with an Eagles pre-paid parking pass for Wells Fargo Center lots A through G are directed to use that pass for lots M, N, P, or Q through X.

Lots K and L at Lincoln Financial Field will operate as usual for an Eagles home game.

Which lots are available for Flyers parking on Tuesday?

Wells Fargo Center lots – again, lots A through G -- will be available exclusively for those with a ticket to the Flyers game on Tuesday, at the typical parking rate for a Flyers game. Those gates open at 4 p.m. and game tickets will be checked at the gate.

Flyers fans are encouraged to pre-pay for parking online at the Wells Fargo Center website.

Will anything change with Eagles tailgating?

With Eagles fans unable to park in Wells Fargo Center lots, and with those lots not opening until 4 p.m., the number of usual tailgate spaces is significantly reduced. Tailgating will be allowed in lots K, L, M, N and P as usual.

It is worth a reminder that tailgating is not permitted in lots north of Pattison Avenue and west of Darien Street.

What is the deal with all of this alphabet soup of parking lots?

Good question. Here’s a map, courtesy of Lincoln Financial Field, outlining each of the lots.

Should I just take public transit?

Subway fare on the Septa Broad Street Line is $2.50.
