Without a fourth preseason game, the Eagles began their trimming of the roster early this year. Follow all the cuts here.
If Burnett clears waivers, the Eagles plan on signing him to their 16-man practice squad. And with some uncertainty with the health of the position, there’s a chance he could end up on the active roster pretty soon.
The decision to waive Burnett is a good sign for rookie 6th-round pick Quez Watkins, whose odds to make the roster just increased. There’s a numbers game at receiver right now. The Eagles might decide to carry Jalen Reagor and Alshon Jeffery on the initial roster despite their injuries.

The USC product went undrafted in 2018. After time with the Titans, Jets and 49ers, Burnett ended up on the Eagles’ practice squad in December. He was promoted to the active roster on Christmas Eve and ended up catching a huge 41-yard pass in the season finale after just a few days on the active roster.
