Former Eagle Michael Bennett is headed to the Cowboys

The strange odyssey of Michael Bennett took another strange turn Thursday, when the Patriots traded the former Eagle to the Eagles’ biggest rival.

Bennett, who the Eagles traded to the Patriots along with a 7th-round pick in March for a 5th-round pick, was shipped Thursday from the Patriots to the Cowboys in exchange for a conditional 7th-round pick, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The Cowboys will be Bennett’s fourth team since 2017.

Bennett led Eagles defensive ends with 9.0 sacks last year and had 2 1/2 sacks this year in six games with the undefeated Patriots. But he was suspended last week for the proverbial conduct detrimental to the team after complaining about his playing time.

Bennett has 65 1/2 career sacks and was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Seahawks, earning the honor as recently as 2017.

But he does tend to wear out his welcome wherever he goes.
