Gunn-on-One: How is Eagles LB Jordan Hicks handling heavy workload?

Share

No Eagles defensive player has played more snaps this season than linebacker Jordan Hicks. With this being the last year of his rookie deal, Hicks has a lot to prove.

Here’s some of what Hicks had to say during a recent Gunn-on-One conversation.

Gunn: You have played every defensive snap so far this season and you lead the team in tackles. Are you surprised you’ve played that many snaps?

Hicks: No. I consider myself a three-down linebacker. Somebody that is multiple and can do everything. Defend the run, defend the pass well. So the fact that I’m out there playing every snap is not surprising. I think it’s something that I’ve needed to prove not only to myself, but to everybody else. That that’s who I am and without all these injuries, all these dark clouds lingering over my head, that’s who I am. The guy that can play every down.

Gunn: Speaking of adversity, this is your fourth year. Two of your years have been cut short because of injuries. How do you shed that injury-prone label?

Hicks: Gotta prove it. Doing what I’m doing right now, staying healthy, playing all the downs, and playing well. It’s a production league. If you’re not producing you get tossed out. I’ve just got to continue to work on my craft and do what I do.

The expanded Gunn-on-One conversation with Hicks can be seen Sunday on Eagles Pregame Live, which begins at noon on NBC Sports Philadelphia prior to the Birds’ game against the Tennessee Titans.
