Gunn-on-One: Lane Johnson knows where Eagles stand going into NFL playoffs

Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson is a ticked off man these days, but he's playing some of his best football.

I'm in the trenches with No. 65 for this week's Gunn-on-One ahead of the Eagles' wild-card game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Gunn: Do you guys honestly view yourselves as the underdog this week?

Johnson: Pretty much. We're seen as the team that's barely scraping in to get into the playoffs. Kind of underachieved, so I kind of get that vibe.

Gunn: The Pro Bowl snub early got to you, didn't it? Why?

Johnson: I feel like it used to have a lot of validity to it when there were people talking about their accomplishments. When people looked back to see what you've done in your career and I could see it's a year wasted if I didn't make it. You knew as far as being talented enough to be able to play in it and not achieve it, it's just one of my goals. It wasn't a pity party or anything like that. But it definitely got me fueled up a little bit.

Gunn: You faced Khalil Mack when he was with Oakland. Tell me how he compares to the Khalil Mack you see now.

Johnson: Man, I think he may be even stronger than he was in past seasons. His lateral quickness coming out of his stance is probably the best in the league. Very similar to Von's (Miller) and you just don't see very many guys that can do what he does. The bend, the power with his hands. He's very good reading the tackles. He's very savvy. Just a very smart player to go along with his physical abilities.

No doubt Johnson will have his hands full Sunday.
