TAMPA — Early in the first quarter, the Eagles were down to just two running backs.

Jay Ajayi went into the locker room after the Eagles’ first offensive drive. He had a back injury and is questionable to return. Ajayi had one carry for minus-7 yards on the first drive.

Ajayi returned to start the second half, rattling off a 20-yard run on the Eagles' first play to start the half.

With Darren Sproles (hamstring) out of this game, that left just Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood in uniform for a game with a temperature in the 90s.

Ajayi was expected to have an increased workload this week after carrying the ball 15 times in the season opener last week.

During the preseason, Ajayi was struggling with a foot injury but returned in time for the opener.

Wide receiver Mike Wallace suffered an ankle injury early in the first quarter and is out for the remainder of the game.

Jason Peters left with a quad injury and is questionable to return. Halapoulivaati Vaitai replaced him as left tackle.
