Jordan Mailata now in his 1st ever football game that counts

Jordan Mailata is playing in a football game that counts for the first time in his life.

Rookie draft pick Jack Driscoll started the opener at right tackle in place of Lane Johnson (ankle) but limped off the field late in the third quarter. That’s when Mailata came on.

Mailata, 23, is the giant Australian former rugby player. The Eagles drafted him in the 7th round back in 2018 but he’s only ever played in the preseason.

Here’s the Eagles’ offensive line right now:

LT: Jason Peters

LG: Isaac Seumalo

C: Jason Kelce

RG: Nate Herbig

RT: Jordan Mailata

This game is a pretty big indictment on Matt Pryor. Not only was he not an initial starter but he wasn’t even the first guy in off the bench. Pryor and Sua Opeta are the Eagles’ two backup OL right now.

Just after the Driscoll injury, Vinny Curry got hurt and went into the blue tent. Curry has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
