Mike Vick says nobody threw a better deep ball than him

During his electrifying NFL career, Michael Vick became known for his ability to use his legs but sometimes that overshadowed his incredible arm talent.

With one flick of his left wrist, Vick could send a football spiraling 60 yards downfield.

And he doesn’t think anyone did it better. At least that’s what Vick told Lane Johnson on Outside The Lane on Friday evening.

“I’m gonna go on record and say this, man, while I’m talking to you: I don’t think there was another guy who threw a better deep ball than me,” Vick said. “I can say that. Ask DeSean Jackson when you talk to him.”

Here’s the full interview with Vick:

I still remember the early days of Vick in Philadelphia, watching him at practice. His deep ball was just so effortless and maybe it stood out even more because he was left-handed and you don’t see many lefty quarterbacks. But he really used to let it fly.

And watching him work with DeSean was a real treat because you had a guy with a rocket for an arm and arguably the best deep threat in NFL history working together.

During their time together, Vick threw 13 touchdown passes to Jackson and the average length of those touchdowns was 46.8 yards. Of those 13, six went for 60+ yards.

That’s insane.

From 2010-2013, despite playing just 42 games, Vick threw a total of 12 passes of 60+ yards, ranking him third in the NFL during that span. Of those 12, eight of his 60+ yard passes went to Jackson.

So Vick and Jackson combined on more 60-yard passes than 11 teams in the NFL during that span.

If you forget just how good Vick was at throwing the deep ball, have another look. It’s fun to watch
