The Eagles had a pretty unpopular day in the NFL draft on Friday when they took Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts in the second round.
So far, here’s the Eagles’ 2020 draft:
1-21: Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU
2-53: Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
3-103: Davion Taylor, LB, Colorado
4-127:
4-145:
4-146:
5-169:
6-191:
As you can see, the Eagles have five picks remaining in the third and final day of the draft. Assuming they don’t take another backup quarterback, here are 10 players who might make sense:
Antonio Gandy-Golden, WR, Liberty
The 6-4, 223-pound receiver comes from a small school so there are questions about the level of competition he faced. But the good news is he dominated with consistency at Liberty. He had at least 69 catches and 1,037 yards in each of his last three seasons and exactly 10 touchdown receptions in each of the last three years too.
Bryce Hall, CB, Virginia
NFL
There are serious medical concerns with Hall, which is why he’s still available. He missed half of his 2019 season with an ankle injury that needed surgery. That’s a huge concern. But for a Day 3 pick, Hall has upside as a starter in the NFL if he can stay on the field.
Prince Tega Wanogho, OT, Auburn
The 6-5, 308-pound Nigerian has a pretty amazing story and eventually picked up football when he came to the states. He ended up being a three-year starter at Auburn. He’s still a work in progress but has plenty of raw ability for a team willing to take a chance. The Eagles are normally willing to take chances for athletic offensive linemen.
Jason Strowbridge, DT, North Carolina
The Eagles are already stacked at defensive tackle so this wouldn’t be a popular pick, but they obviously don’t care about that right now. And Strowbridge is the kind of penetrating interior lineman the Eagles like for their one-gapping front four.
Bradlee Anae, DE, Utah
Anae might not last into the Eagles’ range but I’m surprised he’s still available now. He’s a quick first step guy who had 13 sacks as a senior in 2019 and 21 in his final two seasons at Utah. At 6-3, 257, he has to rely on his speed and there are questions about how that will translate.
K.J. Hill, WR, Ohio State
This pick might not make sense because the Eagles have been so focused on finding speed in this draft and Hill isn’t a speedster — he ran a 4.60. But he’s a dependable slot guy and the Eagles could use one of them if they think Jalen Reagor is going to be an answer outside. Reagor is a low floor, high ceiling type but Hill is the opposite. He’s a super volume receiver.
Nick Harris, C, Washington
At 6-1, 302 pounds and super athletic, the comparisons to Jason Kelce have been plentiful and for good reason. Harris is undersized but has the athleticism few centers offer and the intelligence to make up for his size deficiencies. He’d be a good eventual replacement for Kelce.
Gabriel Davis, WR, UCF
Davis (6-2, 216) is coming off an impressive season at UCF. He caught 72 passes for 1,241 yards (17.2) and 12 touchdowns. Could become a value pick for an X receiver at the next level.
Ben Bartch, OT, St. John’s
Here’s another project-type offensive lineman. Bartch (6-6, 309) is definitely a projection, having played just two seasons at tackle after moving from tight end. And coming from a Division III school, he probably isn’t ready to play just yet. But Jeff Stoutland likes projects and he gets them.
Deejay Dallas, RB, Miami
The Eagles need to find a complementary player to Miles Sanders and Dallas would fit. He’s a hard-running 5-10, 217-pound back whose legs never stop churning. He’s also a good blocker and had just 265 total carries in college.
