NFL Free Agency: Eagles fans roast Cowboys for Dak Prescott franchise tag

Failing to reach a long-term agreement with the player you believe is your franchise's long-term quarterback?

Couldn't be the Eagles.

The Dallas Cowboys officially placed the exclusive franchise tag on Dak Prescott on Monday, a big moment in the year-plus negotiation struggle between Jerry Jones and Prescott's camp. Prescott has been seeking top-of-the-line money on a long-term contract, but the Cowboys seem... wary of giving him that, and Monday's move was just another sign that Jones is scared to pay Dak big bucks.

Eagles fans, of course, are glad to have franchise quarterback and Super Bowl champion Carson Wentz on a long-term deal that looks better with each passing signing -  just look at that Kirk Cousins money! - and now they're doubly happy to see their biggest rival floundering:

If the Cowboys don't sign Prescott to a long-term deal after this tag, he'll earn an average of the top five salaries at the QB position, but will also play through the season with a world of uncertainty.

It's a precarious position to be in, both for Prescott and for the Dallas front office, which is why Howie Roseman was so smart to lock Wentz up last offseason.

And with guys like Cousins (and soon Patrick Mahomes) racking up bigger contracts, Prescott's asking price is likely only going to climb, driving a wedge further between the two sides.

You hate to see it.
