Several Eagles have been ruled out ahead of Sunday’s home game against the Saints but a couple key Eagles will play through injuries.
Here’s the latest injury report for Sunday’s game:
OUT: T.J. Edwards (hamstring), Rudy Ford (hamstring), Michael Jacquet (hamstring), Jason Peters (toe)
Questionable: Grayland Arnold (hamstring)
Fletcher Cox (neck), Darius Slay (knee), Derek Barnett (pelvis) and Alshon Jeffery (calf) were all on the injury report this week but were not given game statuses and are expected to play.
Cox actually missed practice on Friday with his neck injury, but he hasn’t practiced much in recent weeks because of it. And, besides, he rarely misses games. The Eagles just try to get him to Sundays at this point in the season.
While Peters is listed as out for this game, he’s actually out for the season. The 38-year-old will need surgery to repair his toe and decided to shut himself down, ending this season and quite possibly his career. Without Peters, the Eagles will likely start Nate Herbig at right guard, giving them their 12th offensive line combination in 13 games:
LT: Jordan Mailata
LG: Isaac Seumalo
C: Jason Kelce
RG: Nate Herbig
RT: Jack Driscoll
Without Edwards this week — the Eagles are also still without Nate Gerry and Davion Taylor — the Eagles are very thin at linebacker. They have just Alex Singleton, Duke Riley, Shaun Bradley and recently-signed Joe Bachie, whom the Eagles poached off the Saints’ practice squad a few days ago.
There’s a good chance the Eagles will also elevate LB Rashad Smith from the practice squad for this game.
The Eagles are also light at cornerback but have a few DBs — Elijah Riley, Kevon Seymour, Jameson Houston and Lavert Hill — on the practice squad.
