Craig James isn’t going anywhere.
Not only will the Eagles’ cornerback and special teams ace make their 53-man roster, but he also signed a one-year extension to stay with the Eagles through 2021, a league source confirmed to NBC Sports Philadelphia.
The one-year extension for James is worth up to $1.52 million and comes with $300,000 guaranteed, the source said.

In 2020, James was in the final year of his current contract and was set to become a restricted free agent in 2021. He’ll now become an unrestricted free agent in 2022.

James, 24, went undrafted out of Southern Illinois in 2018. After a year with the Vikings, he joined the Eagles’ practice squad last September. He was promoted to the active roster for good later than month and became a major special teams contributor.
In 2019, James played just 69 defensive snaps but got 237 special teams snaps, fifth-most on the team. He is a very good gunner on the punt team.

This training camp, James was again on the top punt unit as a gunner and also worked his way up on defense throughout the summer. He began on the third team but when Sidney Jones got hurt, he bumped up to the second team and even got time with the first-string defense.
The Eagles began their cuts down to 53 players on Thursday and will have some interesting decisions coming up. That includes at cornerback, where James has already made the team.
