Eagles

Eagles

The big news last week as Eagles began their OTAs was that Carson Wentz was back on the field without limitations.

What will Week 2 hold?

Back from the holiday weekend, the Eagles will be back on the field for practice at 11:30 this morning. Hopefully it doesn’t rain too hard.

Here are some storylines we’ll be watching:

Press conferences

For the first time in many months, Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and offensive coordinator Mike Groh will have press conferences at around 10:40 before practice. We haven’t heard from either of them since before the playoff loss to the Saints. A lot has happened since then.

Attendance

As I do at every practice in the spring or summer, I’ll be taking attendance. These practices are voluntary, but it’s still worth seeing who will be practicing. Don’t bet on Malcolm Jenkins’ being back. But will Zach Brown make an appearance? Will rookie running back Miles Sanders be practicing again after an injury kept him out last week? Will Alshon Jeffery, Jason Peters or Lane Johnson make an appearance?

The depth chart

While it’s sometimes hard to glean a lot from these practices, depth charts are worth tracking. There are two things I really want to see. One, will the OL look the same. Last week, without Peters, Brandon Brooks and Lane Johnson, the first team included Andre Dillard, Isaac Seumalo, Jason Kelce, Halapoulivaati Vaitai and Jordan Mailata. A little surprise: Stefen Wisniewski was working with the second team.

On defense, Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby, Jenkins and Rodney McLeod all weren’t practicing. I want to see if the Eagles keep their first-team corners the same. Last week, they were Rasul Douglas, Sidney Jones and Avonte Maddox. It’ll also be interesting to see if Maddox gets any reps at safety during these OTA practices.
