Week 7 NFC power rankings: Eagles moving up

Share

After six weeks, the Eagles are sitting at a 3-3 record after demolishing the pathetic Giants at MetLife Stadium.

There’s still one undefeated team in the NFC and it’s the only undefeated team in the NFL.

As we head into Week 7, here are our updated NFC power rankings:

1. Rams (6-0) Last week: 1
They’re the only undefeated team left in the NFL. They pulled out a close one on the road in Denver, 23-20, but they were up 10 points before a late touchdown. The Rams are the best and most complete team in the NFL right now.

2. Saints (4-1) Last week: 2
The Saints enjoyed their bye week after reeling off four straight wins and watching Drew Brees become the all-time leader in passing yards. They’re back at it on the road in Baltimore on Sunday.

3. Vikings (3-2-1) Last week: 5
Sure, they probably should have blown the Cardinals out of the water, but a 27-17 win gets a W just the same. The Vikings eventually opened up a 27-10 lead before a fourth-quarter touchdown. Two straight wins has them back on the right track.

4. Panthers (3-2) Last week: 3
Carolina comes to Philadelphia this week after losing to Washington on the road in Week 6. Should be a good matchup this weekend.

5. Eagles (3-3) Last week: 7
I know the Giants stink, but the Eagles still went on the road and crushed a division opponent, 34-13, on Thursday night. That’s a big win and the Eagles finally looked like the Eagles, the team that won last season's Super Bowl. Big test on Sunday at home with a chance to get over .500.

6. Bears (3-2) Last week: 4
After their bye week, the Bears went on the road and lost in overtime to a Dolphins team quarterbacked by Brock Osweiler, who actually threw for 380 yards and three touchdowns! This one hurts because the Bears had a lead late in the fourth quarter and couldn’t hold.

7. Packers (3-2-1) Last week: 6
This is probably unfair to drop the Pack after they beat the 49ers on a last-second field goal, but they also almost lost to a terrible team at Lambeau Field. It took some heroics from Aaron Rodgers to pull it out. It’s a shame they needed them for this game against an inferior opponent.

8. Redskins (3-2) Last week: 11
Washington isn’t going away without a fight. They pulled off a gutsy performance against the visiting Panthers to reclaim the top spot in the NFC East … for now.

9. Seahawks (3-3) Last week: 12
Everyone thought the Seahawks were going to stink and they don’t stink that bad. They pummeled the hapless Raiders on Sunday, 27-3. And their losses have come at home to the Rams and on the road against the Bears and Broncos. Not too bad.

10. Falcons (2-4) Last week: 10
Atlanta might stink, but I’m not ready to throw in the towel on the Falcons yet. They pulled off a close win over the Bucs and have a game against the Giants before their bye.

11. Cowboys (3-3) Last week: 13
Where did this offensive explosion come from? The Cowboys put up 378 yards and 40 points on a Jaguars team that is supposed to have one of the best defenses in the league. Dak played great, Zeke ran wild and Cole Beasley went over 100. They’re not going down in the NFC East without a fight either.

12. Lions (2-3) Last week: 9
Detroit was on a bye week but a couple big wins from teams ahead of it pushed the squad back. Sorry, Lions.

13. Buccaneers (2-3) Last week: 8
The Bucs have lost three straight and just fired their defensive coordinator. Yikes.

14. Cardinals (1-5) Last week: 15
At least the Cardinals have shown a little bit of fight, losing to the Vikings by 10. Not great, but they can’t be as bad as the Giants, can they?

15. 49ers (1-5) Last week: 16
They nearly pulled out a win over the Packers. They let Rodgers pull off some magic, but they haven’t completely given up without their starting quarterback. C.J. Beathard isn’t good, but even he’s made some plays.

16. Giants (1-5) Last week: 14
It’s all falling to pieces.
