Zach and Julie Ertz, through the Ertz Family Foundation, are donating $100,000 to Philabundance in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Philabundance is a Philadelphia-area food bank working with the city to supply emergency food for those in need.

According to the release, 50 smaller agencies that work with Philabundance have already been forced to close because of the spread of COVID-19. There's a need for food.

“When we started our foundation two years ago, our goal was to be a light for our Philadelphia community,” Eagles tight end Zach Ertz said in a statement. “During these very challenging times, Julie and I are committed to acknowledging the issues at hand and to be a part of the solution. Philabundance has an unbelievable track record in our city and we believe there is no better partner to help us solve the food insecurity challenges presented by COVID-19.”

The Ertz’s donation will provide over 100,000 meals to families in need, according to the release.

“One of our main goals during this process was to become better educated about the immediate impacts of COVID-19 on our community,” Julie Ertz said. “The increasing lack of access to food during the crisis is something we want to help to address.  By partnering with Philabundance we believe we can attack these issues head on and partner with one of the great non-profit organizations in our city to make a difference.”
