CNBC's Darren Rovell breaks the news that Li-Ning, China's largest athletic apparell brand, has signed Sixers' rookie Evan Turner to be the face of their brand. The company, who has previously had the elder Shaq as an endorser, is named after its founder and famous Chinese gymnast who was actually the person selected to light the torch at the Beijing Olympics. For most people, this is a very minor story, but I find it quite interesting because of my research around and trip to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Nike's presence at the '08 games was dominant while that of other rivals such as Adisas and Li-Ning were not as noticable.

I actually own a red Li-Ning track jacket I picked up while in Beijing. They have a pretty sleek logo (above), almost akin to the Nike Swoosh. Should be interesting to see the kicks ET is rocking this coming season with the Sixers. As Rovell points out, Evan will get his own signature shoe as a rookie.
