The Flyers used the 165th pick to take their second right winger of the 2019 NHL draft.
The team selected 5-foot-11, 165-pound Russian Egor Serdyuk in the sixth round. General manager Chuck Fletcher had traded up earlier in the afternoon to select winger Bobby Brink, a first-round talent (see story).
Serdyuk, a lefty shot, played last season for the Victoriaville Tigres in the QMJHL. He posted 25 goals and 40 assists, leading all QMJHL rookies in both categories, an indication of his offensive skill.
NHL Central Scouting ranked Serdyuk 71st among European skaters.
Serdyuk has international experience playing for the Russian U-17 team and in the 2018 World Junior A Challenge.
"He's got skill and hockey sense," Flyers assistant general manager Brent Flahr said Saturday via a conference call (see Flyers' draft recap). "Physically, he needs to put on weight, he needs to get stronger like most of the young kids. He has a good skill set, he has a nose for the net and he can score."
