The year of adjustments has done some work on the NHL’s traditional schedule and critical dates.

With the 56-game 2020-21 regular season set to begin Jan. 13, there’s a trickle-down effect on the days to circle on the hockey calendar.

Professional sports don’t allow for much of an offseason nowadays, but general manager Chuck Fletcher, head coach Alain Vigneault and the Flyers’ hockey operations staff have busy but exciting times ahead starting in January.

Here are the new critical dates on the 2021 NHL calendar:

Jan. 3 — Training camp

Jan. 13 — Regular season begins

April 12 — NHL trade deadline

May 8 — Regular season finishes

May 11 — Stanley Cup Playoffs begin

July 21 — NHL expansion draft

July 23-24 — NHL entry draft

July 28 — NHL free agency begins

October — 2021-22 regular season begins
