Experts all-in on Flyers' playoff hopes

Today is the dawn of a new hockey season. With the Flyers scheduled to take the ice against the Penguins, the experts at NBC's Pro Hockey talk are all-in on their playoff chances.

Each of their analysts has the Flyers making the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year:

Under the league's new 16-team playoff format, the top four squads in each division will advance to the postseason.

One writer, Marisa Ingemi, even has the Flyers finishing first in the East Division, as she writes, "The Bruins got ridiculously lucky to not have to deal with Tampa Bay or Toronto. Philadelphia and Washington will also be forces to contend with, but could see the Capitals having some struggles."

Missing a 16-team playoff system in a 31-team league would be quite the disappointment, but expect the Flyers to still be skating come May.
