Didn't think it could get any worse for the Flyers in net?

Think again.

Anthony Stolarz, who opened the 2018-19 season fifth on the organizational goalie depth chart but has been forced into No. 1 duty, exited Saturday night's game during the first period with a lower-body injury.

Stolarz did not return after allowing two goals on four shots to the Canucks during the opening 8:14 of the action as he was replaced by Alex Lyon, who was just called up Thursday from AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley.

In need of an emergency goalie, the Flyers put Rylan Toth on the bench. The 22-year-old plays for the University of British Columbia.

If Toth somehow made his way into the game, he would have become the sixth goaltender used by the Flyers through 31 contests. Lyon was able to finish the game as the Flyers lost, 5-1. It marked their fourth straight defeat, a stretch in which they've allowed 22 goals (see observations).

Stolarz, a 2012 second-round pick, has been stricken by injuries during his early career. He played in just one AHL game and three ECHL games last season because of a torn meniscus in his left knee.
