Flyers former captain Claude Giroux signed a three-year contract with the Ottawa Senators Wednesday, and the team offered an all-access look at his first day with his new team.
Giroux brought his 2-year-old son, Gavin, along for the experience, which included a tour of the Senators’ home arena, Canadian Tire Centre, and his first up-close meeting with the Senators mascot, Spartacat.

What a cool dad. Going to work with my dad wasn’t nearly this exciting, that’s for sure.
The “Welcome Home G” was a nice touch from Spartacat, although technically Wells Fargo Center is closer to Ottawa than Giroux’s hometown of Hearst, Ontario.
It’s always going to be weird seeing Giroux in a non-Flyers sweater, but he’s sure to get a hero’s welcome when the Senators play the Flyers on November 12.
