Pronger crushes beer during Blues jersey retirement

Chris Pronger will go down in NHL history as one of the greatest defensemen to ever lace up the skates.

And his jersey retirement speech will also go down as one of the best in recent memory.

Pronger, the former Flyers captain who spent parts of three seasons playing in Philadelphia, had his jersey retired by the St. Louis Blues Monday night. And in typical Chris Pronger fashion, he added a bit of flair to the occasion, downing a beer mid-speech as everyone inside Enterprise Center lost their collective minds.

Pronger was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015, and had his career not ended prematurely due to post-concussion syndrome, he likely would have created numerous other special moments while representing the Flyers.

Chugging a beer during his retirement ceremony, though? That's a pretty solid addition to the long list of iconic Chris Pronger memories.

You can take Chris Pronger out of Philly, but you can't take the Philly out of Chris Pronger.
