Fans make interesting signs, Kevin Hayes fights, 15 total goals and Flyers beat Blues in NHL 20

This game would have been fun.

Carter Hart vs. Jordan Binnington, Flyers vs. the defending champs, Philly vs. "Play Gloria."

With the NHL suspending the 2019-20 regular season because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Flyers never welcomed the Blues on March 17 for an anticipated matchup at the Wells Fargo Center.

However, the game lived up to the billing Thursday night in an NHL 20 simulation by NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The Flyers out-duked the Blues, 8-7, with the epic trio of Jim Jackson, Keith Jones and Taryn Hatcher on the call.

Kevin Hayes set a tone during the first period by dropping the gloves with Colton Parayko, a big dude at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds. Hayes landed some punches and so did Parayko. Hayes had a nice Philly-like shiner.

Jakub Voracek (two goals, one assist) and Sean Couturier (one goal, two assists) led the way with three-point games, while Hart made 44 saves.

And Gritty was ... Gritty (poor photographer).

Flyers fans also had a field day with signs. You have to love the Nicolas Aube-Kubel for NHL MVP support and who wouldn't vote for James van Riemsdyk?

And, yes, Philly is the best.

Van Riemsdyk was insanely clutch during the third period, scoring the game-tying and go-ahead goals.

Voracek netted a big goal early in the final stanza to trim the Blues' lead to 6-5 and Michael Raffl provided important insurance to hand the Flyers an 8-6 advantage.

St. Louis changed the game when it outscored the Flyers 4-1 in the second period.

Couturier was the Flyers' only goal-scorer in the middle frame.

The Flyers put up a strong first period thanks to Aube-Kubel, Voracek and Matt Niskanen.

Let's hope this Blues fan made it home safely.
