If Flyers were to have personal goal songs, Kevin Hayes has his on standby

The NHL has been opening its Instagram stories for fan-favorite players to take over and answer questions. Flyers fans were in for a treat Wednesday night, when Kevin Hayes got the call and became the most recent player to sign in to the account.

He answered a wide range of questions and had a blast while doing so. I should warn you though, this’ll definitely leave you missing hockey more than ever.

Throughout Flyers history, having just one goal song has been a staple, though over the years that songs have changed. Hayes was prompted with the question of what would his song choice be if he were to have a personal one.

It’s an interesting choice for sure, since it isn’t necessarily considered a hype song. Nonetheless, you can absolutely imagine it filling the Wells Fargo Center while Hayes is celebrating with his teammates.

Another very important topic that was addressed during this Q&A was how Gritty has been handling quarantine. Now, Gritty has been all over the place — hosting his quarter hour of power show on Instagram, keeping up with the latest trends on TikTok, ranking other mascots (he’s allowed to because he’s the best) and even making parade appearances.

Well, it turns out he’s also been in daily contact with Hayes.

Gritty hasn’t shaved yet — and since we’re now going on Day 64 without hockey … it seems like his playoff beard would be in pretty great shape right about now.

Hayes’ teammate Joel Farabee even got a shoutout — noting that he is the best rookie on the team … of course, Farabee also prompted the question. It’s okay, Hayes had the right answer anyway, even if Young Beezer does play too much Xbox.

And there’s no way this session could be completed without asking about the best chirpers on the Flyers. We already knows Hayes deserves his own reality show based on the moments he's been mic'd up — but he also enjoys those of Travis Konecny, Matt Niskanen and Scott Laughton.

Oh, what would I give to hear some new chirps during a game right about now. Alas, we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer.
