Ten days into the 2018-19 regular season and the Flyers will be done with Vegas.

After a resounding 5-2 win over the defending Western Conference champions on opening night, the Flyers (2-2-0) host the Golden Knights (1-4-0) Saturday afternoon to wrap up the two-game regular-season series.

Let's look at some notables before puck drop:

When: 1 p.m. ET with Flyers Pregame Live at 12:30 p.m.
Where: Wells Fargo Center
Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia

• The Flyers were crossing their fingers over the health of Travis Konecny, who left practice Friday after taking a shot to the inside of his skate. It turns out he's expected to play (see story).

This season is certainly providing an early test for the Flyers. If Konecny had to hit the shelf, it would have been another blow to the Flyers' forwards group, which was the team's clear strength entering the season. The one area no one was worrying about suddenly has concerns five games into the year.

With James van Riemsdyk (lower-body injury) out five to six weeks and Nolan Patrick (upper-body injury) seven to 10 days, no Konecny would have added to lost firepower. JVR and Konecny are players you expected to score around 25 to 30 goals apiece, with Patrick chipping in 15-20.

The Flyers' improved depth will have to show it's up to snuff.

• General manager Ron Hextall said Friday the Flyers will push onward with the 12 healthy forwards remaining, which includes Konecny. If Konecny's health doesn't respond well Saturday and the Flyers are forced to make a move, here are some possibilities: Corban Knight (season-opening injured reserve), a center who is practicing and nearing a return, or a winger called up from AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley — possibly Taylor Leier, Nicolas Aube-Kubel or Tyrell Goulbourne.

• While the injuries are a tough pill to swallow for the Flyers, for Jordan Weal, it looks like he'll receive a prime opportunity to showcase himself at his natural position. The 26-year-old, a healthy scratch in three of the first four games, practiced Friday in Patrick's spot as the second-line center.

Weal never found his footing on the wing last season. He likes to use his speed and ability with the puck on his stick (see story).

Here's what he said during training camp about playing center:

Something I've done for a long time, that's probably the biggest thing. I feel like I can use my strengths to the max, up the middle, create plays coming through the middle of the ice, especially in the neutral zone, the offensive zone and in the D-zone — all three.

• Beginning with their loss to the Flyers, the Golden Knights are off to a rocky start. They have the worst goal differential in the NHL at minus-9 and are 0 for 13 on the power play. Meanwhile, the Flyers have allowed a league-high six man-advantage goals.
