Instead of traveling to Pittsburgh, the Flyers will commence the holiday break a little early.
On Monday night, the NHL and NHLPA agreed to postpone all games scheduled for Thursday as COVID-19 cases have piled throughout the league. As a result, the NHL-mandated holiday break — originally Friday through Sunday — will begin Wednesday and end Saturday (Christmas Day). Sunday can be used for travel, testing and practice.
The Flyers were scheduled to visit the Penguins on Thursday. That game will be rescheduled for a later date.
Before they head on the holiday break, the Flyers host the Capitals on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET/ESPN+, Hulu).

The club had three players and two staff members in COVID protocol on Monday.
Following the holiday break, the Flyers are scheduled to have three days before their next game. They have a back-to-back road set Dec. 29-30 against the Kraken (10 p.m. ET/NBCSP) and Sharks (10:30 p.m. ET/NBCSP).
