Gritty already up to typical ‘tomfoolery' weeks before NHL season starts

Listen up, NHL.

You kept him out of the bubble over the summer, but nothing is going to stop Gritty from being at Flyers games this season.

Fans or no fans, he is going to do everything that he can to cheer on his team. Just look at all he did while cheering them on from afar ... uneasy billboards on the way to the arena, road tripping to Toronto (well Toronto, Ohio)  ... and probably a whole lot more behind the scenes.

This time, he's not taking any chances. Gritty is asking for help and brought this very serious issue to social media by creating a thread and petition to get his point across

a minor mistake with these ...

I mean, who doesn't want to see tomfoolery?

... And how long has Gritty had swimmer's ear? He might want to get that checked out.

The thread then concluded with his petition

If you don't immediately feel compelled to stop what you're doing and sign this, let's take a look at an excerpt from Gritty's plea for live hockey.

"Without me, where is the joy? Where is the artistry? Where is the downright tomfoolery that delicately balances with the on-ice battles and displays of athletic prowess? One cannot simply exist without the other.

I promised the world at the brink of quarantine that I would be the orange light of hope and those plans haven’t changed. As a mascot, I have a duty, a responsibility, and I simply ask that you open your hearts to grant me permission to do what I love for the sport you all love. Let's get weird."

-Gritty

No truer words have ever been spoken. Gritty is a national treasure - the eighth wonder of the world, if you will. Gritty and Flyers hockey go together better than peanut butter and jelly, tailgating and cold ones, non-Philadelphia sports fans and them thinking we throw snowballs at Santa on the daily. I could go on, but you get the point.

And if that *still* doesn't convince you - just see what Kevin Hayes has to say on the matter.

The funny thing about this is ... some people might think he's kidding, but it's already been noted multiple times since Hayes joined the Flyers that he would do anything for Gritty.

So, if you want to see a happy Hayes and the Wells Fargo Center with Gritty ... sign the petition.

If you don't even want to scroll back up and find it again, I've got you covered
