NHL playoffs: Flyers release hype video to rally fans for round robin game

Share

The wait is finally over.

Let me say that again — the wait is finally over.

The Flyers are officially back in action today as they kick off their race to the Stanley Cup. It has been a long time coming — the team, fans and entire city of Philadelphia know it.

Things feel different this time around, don’t they? Aside from the no fans, bubble cities and well, playoff hockey in August.

Sunday morning, the Flyers released a hype video to fully caption those emotions.

Normally, these kind of videos consist of crazy fans in the stands following some of the best goals of the season, but again, things were different.

Instead of that, it opened at sunrise on the Philadelphia skyline. It then transitions to an empty Wells Fargo Center with Gritty emerging from the Flyers’ tunnel by himself and that drum he loves oh so much. Quietly, but surely, a “let’s go Flyers chant” starts off in the distance. The sound only continues to grow, and as soon as Gritty hears it, he starts with his drum to the beat of the chant.

Flyers fans that sent in videos filled the screen cheering for the team they love so much and suddenly things shift to the bubble in Toronto. The ice crew getting things ready, players like Travis Konecny and Kevin Hayes already in game mode and a shot of their slogan for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Anytime. Anywhere.

Prepare for chills, get ready for more heart (or should I say Hart), and most importantly — set that alarm for 3 p.m. today — when the puck officially drops between the Flyers and Bruins for the first round robin game.

It’s time.
