Bednarczyk totals 4 TDs, Villanova dominates Elon 42-7

ELON, N.C. -- Zack Bednarczyk passed for 270 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for 59 yards and a score, and Villanova won its first-ever matchup over Elon in decisive fashion on Saturday, 42-7.

Villanova (4-1, 2-0 Colonial Athletic) outgained the Phoenix 557-130 and totaled 35 first downs to Elon's six.

Aaron Forbes, who scored twice on the ground, capped the Wildcats' opening possession with an 8-yard run to give Villanova a 7-0 lead. Bednarczyk found Matt Gudzak later in the first for a 10-yard score to push the lead to 14-0.

Bednarczyk made the second quarter his own, rushing for a 3-yard score and throwing TD passes of 12 and 75 yards to Zac Kerxton and Alex Padovani, respectively, to give the Cats a 35-0 halftime lead.

Forbes' second TD run in the third quarter capped the Wildcats' scoring.

Elon (2-3, 1-1) avoided the shutout with DeSean McNair's 1-yard plunge in the fourth quarter.
