If the FCS has become a Bison Nation, then North Dakota State's football program is prepared to come as far east as it's ever been before.

NDSU and Delaware have agreed to a two-game contract for the 2018 and 2019 seasons - their first-ever meetings. The Bison, who have won a record five straight FCS national titles, will host the Blue Hens in the season opener Sept. 1, 2018 at the Fargodome, then play at Delaware Stadium on Sept. 14, 2019.

"I'm excited for our team and our fans to see a new opponent from a strong conference in the CAA," NDSU coach Chris Klieman said. "The return trip to Delaware is going to be a great test for us. They're a top 10 team in attendance and it is one the best environments in the FCS."

"We look forward to a tremendous challenge," said Delaware coach Dave Brock. "We are excited to bring one of the elite programs in the nation to Delaware Stadium and look forward to that first meeting in 2018. Both administrations did a great job pulling together and making this happen."

Delaware also won the FCS championship in 2003 and was the national runner-up in 2007 and 2010.

Their conferences - NDSU plays in the Missouri Valley and Delaware in CAA Football - are generally regarded as the strongest in the FCS. Last season, NDSU's attendance average (18,497) ranked seventh nationally, while Delaware's (15,826) was ninth.
