Tonight in the City 6: Drexel visits Charleston

Tonight's game between Temple and No. 13 Louisville at the Liacouras Center was postponed by snow (see story), but another City 6 team is in action Thursday on the road.

Drexel (13-10, 5-5 CAA) at College of Charleston (12-13, 4-6)

TD Arena, 7 p.m.

Previous games
Drexel started slow and sloppy before ratcheting up its defense and putting James Madison away, 78-60, Saturday afternoon. Despite losing junior forward Kazembe Abif for the season less than 24 hours before the game, the Dragons shot a superb 54.7 percent from the field -- knocking down 7 of 15 three-pointers -- and held the Dukes to just 16 made field goals all game. James Madison was playing without sophomore guard Andre Nation, the squad's leading scorer, who left the team for personal reasons.

Charleston nearly took down high-powered CAA foe Towson on the road Saturday but fell short, losing 68-61 in overtime. The Cougars used stingy defense to keep Towson within reach during the second half. But the Cougars were ultimately felled by their 31.9 percent field goal shooting, including going a gaudy 6 of 27 from deep and missing their first five shots in overtime.

Top players
Drexel senior point guard Frantz Massenat is averaging 17.7 points, 5.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds a game while committing fewer than two turnovers a contest.

Senior forward Willis Hall leads Charleston, averaging 12.4 points and 9.2 rebounds a matchup and shooting exactly 40 percent from deep this season.

Welcome to the club
Drexel has faced the College of Charleston just twice in the last 35 years, but that's about to change: This season is the Cougars' first in the Colonial Athletic Association. So far they've had a rocky welcome, going 4-6 in their first 10 conference games.

What's next?
The Dragons return home Sunday to face Hofstra (8-18, 4-7 CAA) at 8 p.m.

The Cougars play host to Northeastern (8-17, 5-6 CAA) Saturday at 7 p.m.
