Joel Embiid to play vs Cavaliers Sunday, out vs Raptors Monday

CAMDEN, N.J. — Each back-to-back poses the question in which game will Joel Embiid play?

When it comes to the upcoming consecutive games, Embiid will play Sunday afternoon at home against the Cavaliers. He will not travel with the Sixers when they face the Raptors in Toronto Monday night.

Embiid is not playing in consecutive games as part of his workload management in his first season back from two years of foot injuries. He is on a 24-minute restriction.

Jerryd Bayless is probable against the Cavaliers because of a sore left wrist, for which he missed the first 13 games of the season. He did not participate in the Sixers' light practice Saturday.

Bayless got his first start Friday and played 26 minutes against the Bulls (see story). He said he felt soreness in the game and had been receiving treatment during the day.

“I don’t want to make an excuse about anything," Bayless said Saturday after practice. "If I go out there and play, I’ve got to be confident in doing what I can do. I’m not going to say it limits me to anything, but it just makes things a little bit more difficult.”

The Sixers and Cavs met earlier this month at the Wells Fargo Center. The Cavs edged out the Sixers, 102-101.
