DETROIT -- The stomach flu strikes again.

Sixers guard Sergio Rodriguez has been ruled out of tonight's game against the Detroit Pistons because of gastroenteritis, the team announced.

Rodriguez’s status for Wednesday’s game in Philadelphia against the Toronto Raptors remains unclear.

Rodriguez, who traveled with the team to Detroit, is the second Sixers player in the past four days to to be sidelined with flu-like symptoms. Jahlil Okafor returned to action Sunday after missing the last three games because of the illness.

With Rodriguez unavailable, Sixers coach Brett Brown said T.J. McConnell will start in place of Rodriguez, who has started 22 of 23 games this season. Brown said Nik Stauskas, a University of Michigan product, will also see an increase in playing time off the bench.

“Those two will have the primary responsibility for bringing the ball up and getting us into stuff,” Brown said.

The Sixers also announced that center Joel Embiid (elbow inflammation) and guard Jarryd Bayless (left wrist soreness) did not travel with the team to Detroit.
