The Sixers' game against the Kings at the Wells Fargo Center has been postponed because of moisture on the court. There was no immediate word on a rescheduled date for the game.

Arena staff members tried using wet mops to fix the issue to no avail.

"The Philadelphia 76ers announced that tonight's game against the Sacramento Kings has been postponed due to an issue with the surface of the court and with player safety in mind," the team said in a statement. "Arena officials worked diligently to address the issue, but NBA officials determined that the court was not suitable for play."

Sixers CEO Scott O'Neil said the Wells Fargo Center staff informed the team the problem was not caused by refrigeration. The Sixers share the building with the Flyers and there is ice under the court.

The Sixers had submitted a request to the NBA to delay the start time until the wet mopping dried before ultimately having to postpone the game.

“We know this is a tremendous inconvenience for the fans,” O'Neil said to reporters. "I certainly apologize on behalf of the organization."

During pregame warmups, players commented on "squeaking" when they took the floor. Nik Stauskas admitted that the court felt "greasy."

After the delay was announced, Kings center DeMarcus Cousins tried to help expedite the situation himself (see video).

The Sixers did announce they will honor fans' tickets and parking receipts for the rescheduled game. They also stated fans who purchased tickets would have the opportunity to receive complimentary tickets to one of three games: Dec. 5 vs. Denver Nuggets, Dec. 14 vs. Toronto Raptors or Dec. 18 vs. Brooklyn Nets.
