Eagles re-sign LB Najee Goode, roster at 53

The Eagles on Saturday re-signed veteran linebacker Najee Goode.

With the move, the roster is at 53 a day after Doug Pederson said the team didn't anticipate filling out the roster before game time.

Now, Goode is back on the books in time for Sunday's opener against the Browns. Goode has been with the Eagles for the last three seasons and played in 14 games in 2015. He was released at final cuts, but it was expected he'd return.

Goode, 27, will likely have his normal special teams role Sunday. Big special teams contributor Trey Burton enters the game with a calf injury.

Goode will also give the team some depth at linebacker. Recently acquired Kamu Grugier-Hill is coming from a completely different system in New England and won't be ready to see the field on defense for a while.
